it was a saturday afternoon.
the weather was much like today.
drizzly, cold, windy.
snow was in the forecast.
water droplets glistened from the trees.
we had the only carriage ride that day.
with two strong soggy horses.
the driver wore a top hat.
he held me sweetly and close.
the estate seemed ever so quiet.
he whispered sweet things in my ear.
then got down on one knee.
“i want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
my eyes swelled with tears of joy.
“will you marry me?”
it seems like only yesterday.
but it was one year ago today.
i’m so excited about many more years.
a lifetime. together.

Today’s spring-like weather reminded me of a sweet wedding from last summer in Chapel Hill. I had the lovely privilege for assisting Kim DeLoach and I absolutely adored the details for this wedding. That morning was full of black clouds and torrential rain. (I had to make a stop to buy rain-x since the rain was pouring so hard.) A few hours later, the sun came out and the signs of rain disappeared except for the fog left on the windows of the church. The hot sunshine, humidity, and trees made me feel like I was in a low country wedding for sure. Here’s some of the details that I captured! ♥

I’m convinced every year that time flies faster and faster. I met up with Scarlett this past weekend for her birthday pictures. Looking back, it’s amazing to see how much she’s changed. Like woah. We planned for a lovely warm session (since we’re in the ah-mazing heatwave) and of course mountain weather would have to step in just an hour before the session. Thankfully, Scarlett didn’t mind the cold, wind, and dark fog. I, however, froze. Just a reminder… as long as it’s above 45 degrees, I’m all for planning sessions in Feb. Contact me for available dates!
